Going back to school

After the long relaxing summer holidays, September means a return to school. Those long summer days are over, and instead, school children have to get up early and sit in classrooms for most of the day.

In Britain, pupils wear a school uniform. As well as a particular skirt or pair of trousers, with a specific shirt and jumper, they also have a school PE kit (clothes that they wear to play sports at school).

Some children walk to school, and some parents drive their children to school. But others come to school by a school bus – particularly if they live outside the town.

Most children go to state-run primary and secondary schools. Schools are mostly mixed (girls and boys sit in the same classes), although there are some single-sex schools (schools for girls or boys only) and a few schools are private, where parents pay school fees.

Schools try to have clear rules for acceptable behaviour. For example, pupils (school children) have to show respect to their teachers. Often they have to stand up when their teacher comes into the classroom and say "Good morning". If pupils break the rules, they can expect to be sent to the headmaster or headmistress, or to do detention, when they stay behind after the other pupils go home.

Most schools have lessons in the morning and in the afternoon. Pupils can go home for lunch, or have their lunch in school. Some have a packed lunch (where they bring lunch from home, such as sandwiches, fruit etc) and some eat what the school prepares. These "school dinners" vary in quality, and there has recently been a lot of media interest in providing healthy school dinners for pupils.

Pupils can expect to get homework for most subjects, and there are regular tests to check progress. At the end of each of the three school terms, teachers give each pupil a report. Schools also have a parents' evening each year, when the parents can meet the teachers to discuss their child's progress.

School isn't just lessons and homework though. Most schools arrange a sports day once a year, as well as school trips to places of interest.

Students wear uniform.when the teachers come in the classroom, students will stand up and say good morning or afternoon, then students will wait after what the teachers say. The teachers might say pray before start lesson. It is very polite and formal. How do you like it?

In Belgium we don't wear uniforms. But the clothes who are allowed to wear are very infinitesimal!
We do have a yellow T-shirt we have to ware for gym class. The short has to be blue or black.
Also in my country, students come to school by bus, by foot, by car (parents drive them), but most people come by bike.
Schools in Belgium are mostly mixed.
When the teacher enters we don't have to get up and say "good morning". We have to be quiet, take our seats and take our books. But we do have to respect the rules! When we don't do that we have to write punishment our we can be in detention.
We have school in the morning and in the afternoon. Except on Wednesday we can stay home in the afternoon. Pupils can go home for lunch, or take their lunch at school. some people have packed lunch, others take what the school prepares. When school ends (4pm)most pupils till the second grade stay at school till a quarter to six to study or to do their homework. From the third grade most pupils go home at 4pm.
The schools also take care for some relaxation. We have sports day and at the begin of the year we also have a class trip to get to know each other a little bit better.
And that is the way it goes in Belgium.

In my school in Belgium , we don't have to wear an uniform. But we are allowed to wear a PE kit.
My school is a mixed school, like the most schools here in Belgium. Most of the pupils come to school by bike. In my school there are strict rules which have to be followed. For example, if we go to our class, we have to do that in silence. If you don't, you'll certainly get punished. We have school from 8 am till 4 pm. But on tuesday and thursday, we have school till 5 pm. And on wednesday we're free in the afternoon. In the first trimester we have a parents' day, that's when de teachers evaluate your study results with your parents. That's how it goes in my school!

In Belgium, going to school is an obligation. If you stay at home during the school year you will be punished. In our country school begins at 8 am en it ends at 5 pm.We can stay at home on Wednesday afternoon and on Friday school ends at 4 pm.We have also more vacation than in some other countries. We also have many computers in our school. That's good because we can do our homework on the computers. In my school you have to be quiet in the corridors en you have to be in the classroom before the second bell rings. You need to know the rules and you have to respect them. You don't have to wear a school uniform but you need to wear dignified clothes. So,now you know something more about school life in Belgium.

In Hong Kong, students have to wear school uniform. When a teacher comes to the classroom, we need to stand up and greet him or her. Every day, we have a morning assembly in which the principal or some teachers or students will give a speech or deliver a message to all the students. In the lunch time, most students need to stay at school to have their lunch while some senior form students can have lunch outside or at home. Most school end at three thirty, but some end at 5pm. Just like other schools in other countries, we also have school sports day and school trip to countryside once a year.

in egypt most schools are mixed and we have to wear a uniform but our schools are so bad as students can not help themselves after they end school

School in Romania is very much the same. The pupils stand up when the teacher enters the classroom and say good morning or good afternoon. We don't have to wear an uniform, at least not at my school. Some schools on the other hand have uniforms , it depends on the schools policy. The clothes we wear must be formal and not something that attracts attention. Few schools have cafeterias and we need to buy our lunch from shops near by.Recently there has been a new rule announced by the government that there will be no more fast-foods near the schools and it is being applied quite nicely. As for PE, pupils come with clothes of their own, but they must be able to practice PE in them. The only class at which we say a prayer at the beginnig and the end is at Religion.

Every School have thier own uniform and rules to obey. When I was in high school I went to Catholic School ,the School i went to It was run by nuns .Its was strick and we always had to pray the rosary every morning. It was nice to see all the kids wearing all the same colors of uniform. If you forgot to put your tie you have pay certain amount of money. I did'nt finished high school through the lack of financial matters. I was an shoolar at that school, which is my tuition fee was free but i had to maintain my grades. Its was ok but my parents we're so poor . They can't even afford the transfortation expenses.

In China, most of schools have uniform and their rules which students must comply with. Studnets aslo must express respect to their teachers, and greet their teachers at the begining and end of every class. We have the national flag-raising ceremony at Monday morning every week.Generally, we go to school from Monday to Friday and have class from 8am to 5pm. We go to school by walking, biking, or taking a school bus. Some school require students to have lunch at school, the others not. Most school aslo have a sports day and a trip every year, and have a parents meeting every term.
This is the situation of the schools I have entered.
Thank you!

cindy

it's a little bit different from china..
china also needs to wear school uniform…every school do…
everymorning, have a reading before class,
and afternoon, you can eat at school or at home..it's up to you.. but it seems like nobody packs lunch to school.

And the chinese teachers are much more strict than foreign teachers..

Happy

My school is in Vietnam, The most like Indonesia's school, they are lack of facilites and boring. We have many subjects and homeworks so we have little time to play sports. The gymnastics is not payed attantion and some parents think that it's waste time to play sports. Maybe the respection for teacher is too high, so the discussion between teacher and pupils is very little. And it make the pupils lack of the initiation. The education only focus on hard skills so it make the pupil lack the short skills and have many difficulties in the real life.
