2. Vocabulary quiz - Odd one out
For each list, choose the word which is the odd one out
1. paint, wall paper, varnish
2. curtains, blinds, painting
3. cushions, throw, pillow
4. carpet, rug, shutter
5. decoupage, embroidery, spring cleaning
Answers
1. Varnish is the odd one out, as it's something you put on wood to protect it
Paint and wall paper are put on walls as decoration
2. Painting is the odd one out, as it's something you put on your walls as decoration. Curtains and blinds are two different types of window covering.
3. Pillow is the odd one out, as it's something you put under your head when you sleep.
Cushions are a type of pillow that you put on your sofa, and a throw is a piece of fabric that you also put on your sofa.
4. Shutter is the odd one out, as it's a piece of wood that you put either inside or outside your window to keep out the cold or the light. Both carpets and rugs go on the floor.
5. Spring cleaning is the odd one out, as it means cleaning your house thoroughly. Both embroidery and decoupage are decorative features.
