fast-paced = the action and events happen fast.
gripping = exciting, keeping your attention.
have you on the edge of your seat = exciting, thrilling.
racy = a little scandalous: "Her racy memoirs show that she was no angel."
Boring
dull = uninteresting
plodding = slow
predictable = you know what's going to happen
tepid = not hot, a bit boring
uninspiring = it doesn't make you think or wonder
