Watching your favorite TV series in English can really boost your English, esp. as for colloquial phrases that are not easy to teach authentically in EFL classrooms – be it Grey's Anatomy, House, Spooks, Heroes, The Simpsons or whatever – the clips, or even episodes you can find online (the latter being really a rare joy, esp. if you cannot enjoy the bliss of Hulu etc.) are often underestimated foreign language treasure chests…

I think that watching English tv is a good way to learn English only if you have already a good English level. About the third tip, I thought that using subtitles in English was better than using subtitles in my own language..but I'll try to follow your suggestion from now :-)
