Slumdog Millionnaire

This film is directed by Danny Boyle (who also directed Trainspotting and The Beach) and it's been tipped to win an Oscar.

The film is about Jamal, a boy from the slums of Mumbai, and his life of poverty and survival with his brother (Salim) and their friend, Latika. Jamal manages to get on the TV show "Who Wants to be a Millionnaire" and gets as far as the question which could win him 20 million rupees. Then he is arrested on suspicion of cheating and interrogated by the police. He shows how his life on the streets has led him to know the answer to every question.

Although the film contains some scenes of brutality, it's mostly about the themes of love, money and poverty. It's fun, too (don't leave before the final credits and amazing dance scene!)

Have you seen it? Did you like it?
